Summary of Events
The Regional Competitiveness Initiative (RCI) Program is expanding the support for Project Management (PM) certification
As the fourth most-recognized certification in the world, Project Management (PM) certification brings value to individuals and companies. RCI is working with partners across the Balkans to bring this certification opportunity to the region.
Serbia
From November 2009 to December 2010, RCI and USAID Serbian Competitiveness Project jointly organized and co-financed advanced training in Project Management for 160 professionals from more than 100 companies from the ICT and construction and services sector, with the goal of providing them with the cutting edge knowledge and international certifications necessary for success in the global markets. The training was based on the standards of the world´s leading project management organization, the Project Management Institute (PMI) and geared towards their top certification, the Project Management Professional (PMP). 21 trainees have already obtained the certification, and more are expected to undergo the exam during 2011. Based on the success achieved in Serbia and the demand in the region, the USAID RCI project is now implementing this program in other countries.
Albania
On October 8 2010, RCI organized an awareness event in Tirana, Albania, on the subject of PM, where approximately 90 participants listened to the benefits and value of this quality and excellence certification. The awareness event was followed by a three-day training event in November.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, RCI organized two three-day trainings for 34 top IT managers, in Sarajevo and in Banja Luka, in November 2010.
Moldova
In February 2011, RCI is organizing an awareness event in collaboration with the bilateral USAID project in Moldova.
Regional Network
RCI hopes to build on these successes and partner with other USAID Projects to expand the number of PM trained and certified professional, eventually building a regional PMP network.
